Dave and Robyn Wilson, Northern Territory, Australia, spent a week in September 2002 in Central Arnhem Land looking for small fishes and water plants. Arnhem Land is a huge Aboriginal Reserve at the top end of the Northern Territory. It is shown on this map created by Peter R. Lister (click on the map for the legend).

A small unnamed river >
that eventually flows into the Cadell River.

Chequered Rainbowfish (Melanotaenia splendida inornata ) from Kolorbidahdah. It was caught on a miniature hook and a crumb of bread.

This is a small billabong >
near where the Maningrida Road crosses the Cadell River.

The Nymphaea violacea in this billabong had white, mauve and pale blue flowers.

< A small reed like plant called Xyris indica and some Milfoil (Myriophyllum muricatum), a nice local form with red leaves, very attractive in a pond.
